Resources

Learn about the crafting resources available in Subnautica 2, from basic minerals to deep-water materials needed for advanced equipment.

Resources

Resource gathering and crafting are fundamental survival mechanics in Subnautica 2. Players must collect materials from the ocean floor, outcrops, and creature deposits to craft tools, build bases, construct vehicles, and create upgrades. The official description states that players can "craft vehicles, tools, and bases to survive this mysterious alien world."

The crafting system is expected to expand throughout Early Access, with new materials and recipes being added in future updates.

Resource List

Basic Resources

Celestine

Celestine is a mineral resource new to the Subnautica series, unique to Subnautica 2. While its exact in-game properties and uses are still being documented, it is expected to be an early-to-mid-game material used in various crafting recipes.

Status: Confirmed name. Specific crafting uses are unconfirmed.

Titanium

A fundamental building material that has been present throughout the Subnautica series. Titanium is typically used in base construction, tool fabrication, and vehicle crafting. It is one of the most commonly needed resources.

Status: Confirmed -- core series resource expected to carry over.

Copper

A basic crafting material essential for electronics and wiring. In prior Subnautica games, copper was used to create wiring kits, batteries, and electronic components. It is typically found in the shallower biomes.

Status: Confirmed -- core series resource expected to carry over.

Silver

A conductive metal used in advanced electronics. Silver is typically a mid-game resource required for crafting computer chips, upgrades, and specialized equipment.

Status: Confirmed -- core series resource expected to carry over.

Mid-Game Resources

Lead

A heavy metal with applications in radiation shielding and energy storage. In the Subnautica series, lead has been used in battery and power cell construction, as well as radiation-resistant equipment.

Status: Expected based on series precedent.

Sulfur

A resource typically associated with geothermal or volcanic environments. Sulfur may be found near thermal vents or in deeper biomes, and is used in various chemical and energy-related crafting recipes.

Status: Expected based on series precedent.

Late-Game Resources

Strontium

A mineral that may be related to advanced technologies or radiation-related crafting. Its exact role in Subnautica 2's crafting tree is unconfirmed.

Status: Confirmed name. Specific crafting uses are unconfirmed.

Gold

A precious metal used in advanced electronic components and high-tier upgrades. Gold is typically found in deeper, more dangerous biomes and is required for crafting late-game equipment.

Status: Expected based on series precedent.

Kyanite

One of the deepest and most valuable resources in the Subnautica series. Kyanite is typically found only in the most dangerous, deep-water biomes (often near lava zones) and is required for the most advanced crafting recipes.

Status: Expected based on series precedent.
